CIRCULAR 07/03/2017                                                                                                13th September 2017

Dear Parents,

1) SPORT PHOTOGRAPHS

Sport photographs will be taken on Friday 15th September. Names are on the notice board. Children must wear normal school uniform (not tracksuits) on the day. Learners who have represented South Durban, KZN or SA may bring their kit to change into on the day.

2) GRANDPARENTS’ ASSEMBLY

Grandparents of our learners are cordially invited to attend a special assembly on Monday 18th September at 07h30. Parking will be available on the top field. Grandparents too frail to walk up the stairs may be dropped off in the staff parking lot. After assembly tea will be served and grandparents may be collected at 08h30. I am appealing to learners in grade 5 to supply a plate/packet of biscuits or muffins. This may be brought to the kitchen on the morning. I thank you in advance for your support.

3) ORANGE BAGS

Should you have spare orange bags for paper waste, kindly send them to school. We would like our waste paper recycled, but don’t have enough bags.

4) LEARNERS LEAVING

We have been inundated with applications for all grades for 2018. Kindly notify the school as soon as possible should your child be leaving Brighton at the end of the year, so that we can finalise enrolments.

5) “MR. ELEPHANT”

Mr. Fourie and his cast will be presenting “Mr Elephant” on the evening of the 28th September. Tickets are available at the office at R10. No tickets will be sold on the night. The show will start promptly at 18h00 and will be over within an hour. Parking will be available on the top field.

6) REPORTS

As assessments continue late into the term, reports will be issued in the first week of the new term.

7) NOTICE OF AGM/BUDGET MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the Budget and Annual General Meeting will take place at 18h00 in the School Hall on Wednesday 18th October 2017. In accordance with the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996 Section 38, “The governing body of a public school must prepare a budget each year, according to guidelines determined by the Member of the Executive Council, which shows the estimated income and expenditure of the school for the following financial year.” A decision to levy school fees and one of the actual school fees for 2018 will be made at the meeting and is binding whether or not parents are in attendance. The proposed agenda for the meeting will be forwarded to you in the first week of the new term.

8) THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

Yours sincerely
