CIRCULAR NO 04/02/2018                                                                                                                     2nd May 2018

Dear Parents,

1. SPEECH AND DRAMA FESTIVAL

The Speech and Drama Festival takes place on the 7th 8th and 9th of May. Please ensure that your child is well prepared for items entered.

2. SHOW – HOOKED ON BOOKS

“Hooked on Books” will be presenting a show to encourage reading on Friday the 4th May. These productions are excellent and I encourage you to allow your child to attend. The cost of the presentation is R17 per child payable up until the morning of the show.

As part of our commitment to reading, learners are invited to come to school on the day dressed as their favourite book character. There will be no cost involved for dressing up. I look forward to meeting some interesting characters!

3. SCHOOL SHOP REQUEST

The school shop is appealing for 2nd hand match shirt donations. Perhaps you have purchased a match shirt and your child has only worn it once or twice. This is an ideal opportunity to assist some less fortunate learners.

4. HOCKEY TRIALS

All the best to our boys and girls who will be attending Umlazi District hockey trials tomorrow and Friday.

5. ASCENSION DAY

Our school has been granted permission to close on Thursday 10th May, as a religious observance day on which Christian’s celebrate Ascension Day.          School will continue as normal on Friday the 11th May and we expect full attendance on that day.

6. CONTROL TESTS

Control tests commence on the Monday 4thJune. This gives approximately four weeks of preparation. Consistent hard work is required to achieve good results.

Good attendance is imperative. Please keep a finger on the pulse as far as homework, studying and projects are concerned. Insist on seeing your child’s homework and assist your child in getting into a homework routine.

7. THOUGHT FOR THE WEE

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.”

                                                                         Robert Louis Stevenson

Yours sincerely
